Statement

Autumn in Australia is my most favorite time of the year. Even as a small child this was so. The changes to gardens, trees, and nature has enchanted and enthralled me. The prints evoke an image of Autumn that comes from the remembrances of my childhood. The prints capture a moment in time of floating on the breeze.

I close my eyes and see myself lying in tall grasses, hidden. Surrounded by white and yellow flowers, soft gentle breezes slowly giving movement to all around as I lay very still. Gazing up into the trees, gazing deep into the depths among the branches, seeing the hidden underbelly of things not normally seen. Breezes floating rustling leaves and carrying the smell of crushed grass. Leaves floating on the breeze slowly fall to join me where I lay, to rest with me. This memory is vivid to me as if this happened yesterday. I still hear leaves rustling, slowly floating down to me.

The artwork for each print was developed using specimens collected one Saturday morning. From a height, petals and leaves were dropped, allowing each one to gently float onto a page. The randomly landed images were transferred to photo-polymer plates, etched and printed onto BFK Rives paper using Charbonnel inks.
