Statement

The unknown was always the incentive that drives me to paint. . . and still.

I paint, because painting is the only language in which I can exist. . . because it is the only language with which I can leap beyond the idle language of the daily routine towards the spirit of things. . . of all things.

I paint as an attempt to get to know myself and the world around me. . . and as I do. . . the world unfolds to me in endless lines falling, turning, meeting, and leaving. Sharp lines, yet so fragile. . . sheltering in one painting to form the language of the heart. . . the language of all Gods.

Looking back at the hot sweaty days in Baghdad, in my little messy room, empty of all things but of scattered sheets of paper where unfinished philosophical attempts are written. And tens of drawings, paintings, sketches, all of which carry hopes, dreams of peace, and a tiring search for the meaning of all this. . . I now see clearly that I still carry these worries within.

For all these years of traveling, my worries have only grown larger. . .

Getting to know myself, Sadik.
Waiting for the phoenix to rise, Baghdad.
Humming my humble prayers, Peace on Earth.
And continuously pursuing a long, endless journey to reach the heart of our
existence with my little lines.

For these prints a special plastic dough was made which is very hard when it dries. Then it is carved and left to dry. And for the printing, the same process of etching is done.
