2006 Prints Awarded Selection.
The Iowa Biennial Exhibition is an international survey of contemporary miniature prints showcasing works selected from around the world. Selected from appoximately 1300 entries, 68 works from 66 exhibiting artists represent 24 nations and a variety of print mediums, from traditional to digitally informed. Jury selections for the 2006 Iowa Biennial Exhibition of Contemporary Miniature Prints were announced on Monday, July 31, 2006, with the online exhibition available for viewing as well.
All works entered are submitted before a committee of jury members for exhibition selection. Distinguished jurors invited to participate are established professionals from a diverse selection of art disciplines within Iowa. The 2006 selection committee includes Shannon Kennedy from the University of Iowa’s School of Art & Art History & Kirkwood College-Iowa City, as well as Helen Grunewald, Doug Hall, Kayt Conrad, & Rahat Sodaev all from the Arts & Humanities Department, Kirkwood College-Cedar Rapids.
The 2006 Iowa Biennial Exhibition opened its inaugural venue Monday, July 31, 2006 in Iowa City, Iowa within The University of Iowa’s Project Art Gallery. The initial exhibit, located in the University of Iowa Hospitals, is scheduled through Tuesday, October 31, 2006. In January 2007 the exhibition travels to Cedar Rapids, Iowa within Kirkwood College's Iowa Hall Gallery from Monday, January 8 through Monday, February 12, 2007. And the next most currently scheduled exhibition venue returns the exhibition to Iowa City, Iowa and the Arts Iowa City Center & Gallery during Summer 2007.
Works of Distinction accepted for submission into The Iowa Biennial Exhibition Archive, but not exhibited in the Biennial Exhibition, have also been recognized.
The Iowa Biennial Exhibition of Contemporary Miniature Prints is a nonprofit, cultural and research-oriented event and no profits will be sought from its submissions and/or participants.
